We're not avid windward sailors, and rowing in light headwinds was reasonably efficient.

Basically, we sailed to windward better than expected, and we wonder if a quadrilateral sail mid-ships, with more drive would be worthwhile. Plus side is better pointing and power. Minus side is weight, higher CE and handling complications.

Likely, we're going to stick with the sailplan.

There are a number of tweaks we haven't tried to shape the flat-cut LOMs further, if that's needed. Mainly, we need to get out more and sea-trial the present rig further before making a final decision.

Dave Z

Dave Zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13241033623115158564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580987459140037495.post-28659060950409743452023-11-17T11:38:09.081-09:002023-11-17T11:38:09.081-09:00Hi Roberto,

What didn't work so well with the rig you planned, and what are you thinking of changing it to, and (if you care to go on a little), how?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3580987459140037495.post-59034719022076308222022-12-20T10:38:23.680-09:002022-12-20T10:38:23.680-09:00Joseph Conrad or Jack London could not have writte...Joseph Conrad or Jack London could not have written this better. Such a nice insight into the raw natural wonders of outer Chichagof. Periodically I had to orient myself to your actual timeline and the amount of experience in those zones: this was no weekender! Couple that with rowing and a very healthy diet and a crystal clear brain must have prevailed almost the whole time. Overall a testament to a ¨career¨, as you termed it, of compounded experience and nicely emoted in this piece. Laden with a reverence for the wild beauty of the planet and its waters. This was like a gift to read and thanks for the craftmanship to bring it to light. Have a super winter in Tenakee.
